dunnhumby Names New CEO

Tesco-owned customer data specialist dunnhumby has appointed former Elsevier EVP Dan Olley as its new Chief Exec. He replaces Guillaume Bacuvier, who left the business last May and is now Global CEO of Kantar's consumer panel division Worldpanel.

Dan OlleyLondon-based dunnhumby analyses more than 395 million shopper baskets and nine billion data records every week, helping thousands of brands and suppliers in the grocery and drug sectors to understand how each of their individual products is performing with different types of shoppers. Yesterday, the firm announced that its flagship products dunnhumby Shop and dunnhumby Assortment are now available on Microsoft Azure, to help retailers and brands make data-led decisions and optimise their assortment.

Earlier in his career, Olley was Head of Strategic Development at WPP, and Software Development Manager at IBM.

In his new role, he takes over from Claire Lorains, who is now returning to the Tesco Group, having served as interim CEO since Bacuvier's departure. Commenting on the appointment, Ken Murphy, Tesco CEO, said: 'Dan has the experience and the capabilities to take dunnhumby forward, bringing truly innovative products and valuable customer insights to more businesses around the world. I look forward to working closely with Dan as we strengthen the partnership between Tesco and dunnhumby and work to build a deeper understanding of our customers'.
