Former MiQ and dentsu Leader Takes Epsilon CEO Role
Marcoms giant Publicis Groupe has appointed former dentsu and MiQ exec Sean Reardon as Chief Executive of its data unit Epsilon - a role last occupied by Bryan Kennedy in 2021. Reardon also joins the group's Management Committee.
Acquired by Publicis from Alliance Data Systems Corp for $3.95 billion, six and a half years ago, US-based Epsilon it now forms a core elements of the group's Connected Media division. The firm helps client companies optimize their consumer engagement via its PeopleCloud platform, which offers identity resolution, customer data platforms, clean rooms, digital and retail media, personalization, email marketing and measurement.
Reardon will work with Executive Chairman John Giuliani and will slot into the role by the end of 2025. He brings more than 25 years of experience in ad tech, media and marketing leadership positions, including Global CEO and US CEO of programmatic platform MiQ, and CEO of Media in the Americas for dentsu. In an earlier spell of some fifteen years at Publicis he worked as US CEO of Zenith, among other roles.
Kennedy ran Epsilon for more than a dozen years before retiring four years ago - Giuliani replaced him in many functions but with the title of Executive Chairman, having himself headed up Conversant and Yieldify, both now merged into Epsilon. Giuliani comments: 'Sean brings a deep industry experience and sharp focus that will strengthen our commitment to our clients, our people and our performance. I look forward to partnering closely with him on key business priorities, while focusing more fully on long-term initiatives and strategic oversight, which was my aspiration when I re-joined Epsilon over four years ago.'
Both Reardon and Giuliani will report to Dave Penski, CEO, Publicis Connected Media, who adds: 'Sean's rich understanding of the complexities of this business, alongside the opportunity found in bringing together data, digital, commerce and influencer capabilities within our Connected Media offering will only continue to drive growth, differentiation and powerful outcomes for our clients.'
