Cisco to Acquire AI Monitoring Firm Galileo
Networking giant Cisco is to acquire AI observability specialist Galileo Technologies, Inc., for an undisclosed sum.
Officially launched in late 2022, San Francisco-based Galileo aims to make AI 'more reliable, trustworthy, safe and observable,' allowing teams the tools to evaluate AI quality in real time, detect failures before they reach users, and continuously improve AI behavior in production. In addition to reporting of basic performance and events - latency and errors - this includes the provision of metrics on hallucinations and bias, security, and cost and usage tracking to assess ROI.
Cisco says the buy will help expand its 'deep bench of AI engineering talent', strengthen its Splunk Observability portfolio and supercharge its current AI Agent Monitoring capabilities. In a blog post, Kamal Hathu, Senior Vice President and GM at Splunk, says this will provide 'a complete solution that enables deeper insights from the earliest stages of prompt optimization and model selection, through evaluations, all the way to production monitoring, observability and enforcing guardrails.'
The acquisition is expected to close in Q4 of Cisco's fiscal year 2026, until which time both companies will continue operating independently.
