Phebi Boosts CATI with Real Time Response Capture
London company Phebi has enhanced its voice tech and behavioural science offer with the addition of Phebi Real Time Response Capture: this allows interviewers doing CATI surveys on any platform to dispense with entering answers or typing up notes after completion, providing a full transcript in-place.
Phebi's software analyzes both what people say and how they say it, to generate research-based 'expression intelligence' and enhance traditional insights 'as EQ adds to IQ.' In the Spring the company added conversational AI capabilities, supporting both quant and qual projects.
Real Time Response Capture can be used with any CATI platform. Interviewers install an app on their computer, and during surveys they receive in-line prompts to click a button and ask a question. The software captures 'only what the respondent says', and instantly adds a transcription into the survey platform as if it had been typed there.
Co-founder and CEO Mike Page (pictured) says the new tool is 'an elegant solution to a longstanding problem that costs organizations who do CATI surveys time and money every day.' Page says the tool improves data quality and operating margins by using voice tech to replace a time-consuming, error-prone manual process. Phebi client Kevin M. Kelly, CEO of American Directions Research Group, adds: 'Open ends have the potential to drive additional value for CATI interviews, but they have traditionally been at a high cost both in interview time and quality. Phebi captures the respondent verbatim in real time, so what reaches the client is what the respondent actually said rather than what an interviewer had the time to type. Our interviewers like Phebi. They tell us it keeps pace with fast or unclear speakers and takes spelling and transcription errors out of the equation, which means fewer repeat requests and cleaner data going into analysis.'
