AI Upgrade for Voice Analyst Phebi

March 16 2026

British-based voice analytics specialist Phebi has added conversational AI capabilities to its offer, promising richer, more relevant content and 'more compelling' deliverables for both quant and qual research.

Mike PagePhebi's solutions, sold as an add-on to popular survey platforms for audio and video data collection, combine voice tech, established behavioural science techniques and AI to analyze both what people say and how they say it, in real time. The software scores nonconscious emotions based on behavioural science principles, and provides researchers with transcripts, translated if needed, and emotion scores. The firm added AI-generated summaries three years ago. Output includes patterns and moments of peak emotion by subgroup, theme, and/or tag; and can be filtered, dragged and dropped to create showreels for presentations.

One of the new additions announced today is conversational AI for quant, allowing researchers to add dynamic, context-based probing questions to audio and video OE responses, within their existing survey platform. The other is an AI-Moderated Interviewing capability (AIMI) for qual, adapting to responses and generating both new and follow up questions - this can be used with Phebi Live to reveal people's underlying emotions as they speak, and for tagging of key moments as they occur.

In addition to giving clients expanded qualitative reach at a lower operating cost, and allowing 'seamless', no-code integration with existing survey platforms, Phebi says its software now provides 'adaptive conversations with more natural expression, within structured surveys that generate more, and more relevant data, including the respondent's use of their preferred vocabulary.'

'The use of AI in research and CX has moved from experimentation to expectation,' says co-founder and CEO Mike Page. 'Now the strategic question for researchers is whether they're just going to use AI to achieve parity or whether they're going to use AI that adds to their deliverables and helps them to stand out. The emotion intelligence Phebi provides is to traditional insights as EQ is to IQ - it's a new layer of understanding beyond what text analytics alone offers. With Phebi's new conversational AI capabilities, researchers will have even more valuable content to present to their clients.'
