Angus Reid Opens New D.C. Public Affairs Unit
Veteran North American pollster Angus Reid has appointed Natalie Lacey and Paul Abbate to lead a new Washington, D.C.-based company, Angus Reid Global, focused on public affairs research.
The new business is part of the Reid family of companies, which is also the majority shareholder in Rival Group.
With election season gearing up, the new company will provide custom research, public opinion polling and strategic insights to US businesses, policymakers, organizations and the media. Its work will combine traditional survey research with conversational, mobile-first research technology, drawing upon the existing research panels, technology and methodological expertise of sister companies Reach3 Insights, Rival Technologies and Angus Reid Canada.
Angus Reid Global's research will address issues at the intersection of business, government and society, including AI, energy, economic concerns and trust in institutions - this will include published results of public opinion surveys for journalists, policymakers and the wider public, alongside custom research services.
The new US operation will be led by EVPs Lacey and Abbate (pictured above and below), each of whom brings more than a quarter century of experience in public opinion and/or commercial research.
Lacey began her career as a Project Manager at Angus Reid Group in Canada in 1994, and went on to spend twenty-four years at Ipsos, in roles including Chief Research Officer of Ipsos Global Affairs, prior to a recent two-year stint as an EVP at National Research Group. She has been based in the Washington area since 2018, and while at Ipsos spent four years in Canada and six in London.
Abbate worked at Pepsi and then Coca-Cola before going agency-side at TNS in 1999. In addition to spells at GfK NOP and Survey Sampling, he has spent more than seventeen years at Ipsos, latterly as EVP at Ipsos Public Affairs. While at the group he developed the Global Advisor research program and held senior leadership responsibilities involving business growth and research operations. In his new role he will oversee business development and marketing for Angus Reid Global.
Angus Reid, who as CEO of the new company will serve on the Board alongside his longtime colleagues Ed Morawski and Matt Kleinschmitt, states: 'Public opinion has never been more important to understanding the forces shaping society. We combine proven research with technology that engages people in new ways, helping clients understand not only where opinion stands, but the experiences driving it.'
Morawski was also President of a previous Angus Reid Global, established in 2019.
