Solar energy market research and consulting business Solarbuzz has hired Finlay Colville, a specialist in laser processing of photovoltaic materials, as Senior Analyst. Solarbuzz joined the NPD Group in March and works alongside Flat Panel Display specialist DisplaySearch. Colville will work to enhance the firm’s reporting on solar manufacturing equipment, including solar technologies, trends, and forecasts. He brings more than 10 years of experience in the photovoltaics industry, most recently as Director of Marketing for the solar business unit at Coherent Inc. Prior to this, he was a Technical Director at Edinburgh-based Capital City Lasers, and held other R&D roles in laser companies in both the UK and US. He has written weekly pieces for the laser and solar press over the last five years, and has regular speaking engagements. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Glasgow and a PhD in laser physics from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
