AdRoll Raises $70m for Retargeting Platform

San Francisco-based ad retargeting platform AdRoll has closed a $70m funding round, which it will use to expand its product portfolio and to extend its new cross-device offering to reach customers on mobiles.

Aaron BellAdRoll helps its clients create personalized ad campaigns based on their own web site data. Last year, the firm acquired custom analytics start up Bitdeli, and in January it bought e-mail user retention service userfox.

New funding has been led by Foundation Capital, with contributions from new investors Institutional Venture Partners, Northgate Capital, Performance Equity, and Glenmede, as well as existing investors Merus Capital, Accel Partners, and Peter Thiel. Prior to this round, the company had raised a total of $19m.

CEO Aaron Bell (pictured) comments: 'The new funding lets us hit the gas on our ambitious vision to more broadly become the one platform for companies to better understand their customers and reach them wherever they go. It's a pleasure to both bring back the close-knit investor team that has helped us scale and welcome new investors with exceptional late-stage and public experience.'
