Origami Logic Taps Israeli Tech Talent

US-based analytics firm Origami Logic has followed its recent major funding win with the appointment of technology R&D leader Raviv Pavel as General Manager of newly formed Origami Logic Israel. Pavel will work with co-founder and CTO Ofer Shaked to build a new innovation lab in Tel Aviv.

Raviv PavelOrigami offers self-service visual analytics software to help marketers optimise ROI, and recently announced the general availability of a new platform, Marketing Signals Measurement (MSM). The Israeli move comes less than six weeks after the firm announced it had secured $25m in a Series C round of funding - adding to earlier substantial rounds in January 2014 and November 2012. The money continues to fund product development and growth in the engineering, sales and marketing teams.

Pavel brings extensive experience leading R&D teams, and most recently served as CTO for mobile travel industry company WorldMate (acquired by Carlson Wagonlit). Previously, he was Vice President of R&D for SaaS social infrastructure firm Gigya, where he spent six years; and he worked in senior R&D roles at Hotbar.com and Balisoft.

The new lab will focus on technology and product innovation, including Hadoop and Spark, and the company plans to double its engineering headcount in 2016, with growth in a number of offices worldwide: Origami says growing its international presence is a top priority given its global client base.

CEO and co-founder Opher Kahane says the company is scaling its team to give marketers a better understanding of daily marketing performance: 'Given our strong connections to the deep talent network in the region, Tel Aviv is an ideal location to expand our development and innovation efforts. With a track record for building cutting edge development teams, the appointment of Raviv Pavel as our new general manager will help us quickly grow the team in Israel'. Shaked says the founders 'grew up in the Israeli high-tech scene' and 'know there is a talented pool of engineering and analytics experts in Israel'.
