Seven out of Eight Flamingo Offices to Close

Omnicom is closing seven of the eight global offices of its consumer and cultural insight agency Flamingo, citing 'underperformance' and its need to now focus on growth opportunities in London.

Left standing on one leg - FlamingoFlamingo was founded in 1997 by Kirsty Fuller and Maggie Collier, and acquired by media and marketing holding group Omnicom a decade later for an estimated $18m. As well as offices in London, the company had set up operations in Mumbai, New York, São Paulo, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo. In recent years, it had launched several specialist practices, including Digital Forensics and Social Purpose; and last month, it hired former TNS BMRB Chief Exec Desirée Lopez for the newly created role of Head of Behavioural and Social Strategy.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: 'Omnicom has decided to close Flamingo's underperforming offices in New York, Sao Paolo, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, Mumbai and Jakarta, to focus on growth opportunities in London. The agency is working closely with its people and clients in those offices to ensure a smooth transition. Flamingo will be placing a renewed focus on its presence in London, building on its foundation of a strong agency culture and great client work'.
