Mark Lomanno and Janet GerhardIn the US, social media analytics specialist newBrandAnalytics (nBA) has appointed former Smith Travel Research (STR) CEO Mark Lomanno as a Board Member and ex-Maritz exec Janet Gerhard as Executive Director, Hospitality.

Washington, DC-based nBA specializes in social media analytics for companies in the hotel, casino, restaurant and retail industries. The firm develops proprietary software and solutions that track guest satisfaction comments posted on social media and pinpoint any problems with the customer experience.

Recently, the company formed a joint venture with STR to launch a suite of products for the hospitality industry, integrating nBA’s Social Guest Satisfaction platform with STR’s revenue performance data.

Last month, nBA announced plans to hire up to 45 new employees in the next year, for offices in the States and Israel - more than doubling its headcount.

Lomanno (pictured) joins from hotel analytics specialist STR, where as CEO he played a key role in the company’s global expansion. Prior to this he was National Director of Research for the consulting firm Laventhol & Horwarth.

At nBA, he will develop strategies, create and enhance customer satisfaction research solutions and build relationships with hospitality brands, owners and operators.

The firm’s co-founder Ashish Gambhir comments: ‘Mark’s expertise will allow us to more rapidly roll out our products, as well as continuously enhance them and create new solutions to give hospitality operators the feedback and actionable roadmap to optimize guest satisfaction.’

Gerhard joins from Maritz Research, where for nearly a decade she developed and managed global quality assurance and customer satisfaction programs for the hospitality and leisure industries. She began her career with Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and later worked as VP LRA Worldwide and VP of TNS Intersearch.

In her new role, she will lead the firm’s hospitality practice, where she will be responsible for marketing strategy, team co-ordination, major accounts and the execution and delivery of consulting projects.
