Social Network Analyst Acquired

June 3 2009

In the US, social networking technology firm Lithium has acquired Keibi Technologies, which analyzes user-generated images, text, video, and animations and rates them according to their likelihood to negatively impact the customer experience. Terms were not disclosed.

Keibi was founded in 2006 to develop solutions for the moderation and classification of user generated content (UGC). Its Keibi Moderation Suite™ provides automated content discovery, analysis and moderation for online communities.

The technology is already used by popular social networking sites such as Bebo, as well as by global brands. Keibi's patented process measures and scores content across multiple dimensions, helping brand managers discover content that demands their immediate attention or that provides deeper insight into their customers' behavior.

'This technology augments our moderation services by automating the content analysis process, ensuring that inappropriate material doesn't damage a customer's brand,' explains Lithium CEO Lyle Fong. 'It enables marketers to focus on engaging with customers and deriving critical metrics and insights from their interactions.'

Last year, Lithium raised $12m in a Series B equity funding, which it is using to support the development of richer features for its web-based forums and to double its staff from 98 to nearly 200.

In February, the firm launched a set of analytics to measure and benchmark the 'health' of online communities.
