Metrics Firm Buys to Boost Google Capability

Arizona-based web site measurement firm Actual Metrics has bolstered its position as a Google Analytics support expert with the acquisition of part of Burlington, VT-based EpikOne Inc.

EpikOne offers a variety of services centred around marketing ROI measurement and web site conversion optimization. The acquired division deals with Urchin Software, the basis of Google Analytics. Effective immediately, the purchase gives Actual Metrics various web properties from EpikOne as well as control of Urchin sales, training, support and consulting.

Urchin, which was founded as Web Depot in 1995, was acquired by Google in 2005 when its flagship Urchin On Demand product was renamed Google Analytics. Actual Metrics, which also offers a range of marketing and measurement services, was founded in August of the same year by Mike Chipman, a former employee of both Urchin and Google.

Actual Metrics' training, consulting and support services for Urchin Software focus on high-traffic environments for Urchin and also include remote management, API development, and managed Urchin hosting services, plus an online portal for Urchin information, Urchin Tools.
