In-Stat Debuts TV and Wi-Fi Databases

September 17 2009

Tech specialist In-Stat has launched three new database research services, providing detailed market, product and technology data on global pay TV subscribers, set top boxes (STB), and Wi-Fi enabled products.

The Set Top Box (STB) Database tracks unit shipments, revenues, and average selling prices (ASPs) by technology and world region, and covers all four major STB distribution technologies: cable, satellite, telco IPTV, and digital terrestrial TV. Set top box shipments are updated quarterly.

The Pay TV Subscriber Database tracks global subscribers by operator, country, geographic region and distribution technology, for more than 200 operators worldwide. The service provides five-year subscriber forecasts, with quarterly updates.

The Wi-Fi Product Database closely tracks developments in Wi-Fi in computing, consumer elections, mobile phones and other electronic devices, and provides data for more than 330 product vendors and more than 2000 branded WLAN end-products.

President Mark Kirstein says the databases form 'an ideal complement to In-Stat's strategic market research reports and subscription services.'

In-Stat, which provides technical, market and end-user research and database models for the Mobile Internet and Digital Entertainment sectors, is a division of Reed Business Information, part of the $9 billion Reed Elsevier global information network. Web site: www.in-stat.com .
