Mobile Survey Product Launched

September 28 2009

UK-based custom panels firm EasyInsites has formally launched its EasyMobile product, allowing it to conduct rapid polling via mobile phones. The new system uses the OnePoint survey platform.

The firm says that with 1.7 handsets per person in the UK, mobiles 'can no longer be ignored as a valid and appropriate method for gathering feedback.' The EasyMobile process begins with a text message invitation sent to the mobile of a person who has agreed in advance to be contacted in this manner, in some cases by responding to a web or broadcast ad by texting a keyword to a free number.

EasyMobile will be available worldwide, at comparable prices to standard online omnibus products. Suggested uses include surveying television viewers for a broadcaster 'without taking the viewers away from the program'; quickly polling time-short new mothers on consumer products; or researching primary grocery shopper consumers concerning a brand or product while in-store at the point-of-sale.

Polls will be short, typically of three to five questions, in order to ensure higher response rates. The company says its use of custom panels enhances the ability to target and complete EasyMobile polls, 'since panelists will have provided in advance their mobile numbers and willingness to participate along with detailed profile information'. It can also provide participants with a quick view of the findings where appropriate.

EasyInsites' co-founder and MD Charles Pearson comments: 'Our business approach has been to bring together best-in-class technology platforms to deliver innovative research approaches which are also of great value to our clients and fit well with our EasyPanel (custom panel) product. The ability to quickly and easily run a poll via mobile phones is a capability that our clients want, and the OnePoint platform now makes this possible. This product contributes toward fulfilling the main objective for a client's custom panel - that is to obtain faster, continuous and deeper insights.'
