Synovate has promoted Mike Cassidy to the position of Managing Director of its Australian business, and Brent Stewart to the newly created global role of CEO Strategic Units.

Cassidy joined the firm four years ago, during which time he opened and managed its office in Melbourne and held national roles to build key client relationships and practices. He previously held senior positions at Research International.

When he takes on his new responsibilities in January, he will divide his time between the Sydney and Melbourne offices. Cassidy says he is ‘committed to strengthening our client-centric focus, our ‘biggest small company’ philosophy, and steering our business into a new phase of growth’.

Cassidy replaces Julie Beeck, who moves to a new role supporting the development of colleagues and building key client relationships.

In his new position, Stewart, current CEO of Australia and New Zealand and the founder of Market Equity, will oversee the firm’s business units in regions other than North America and Western Europe: this includes Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Central / Eastern Europe and the Middle East, China, Japan, Latin America / Iberia and North and South Asia. He will also continue to act as CEO of Global Business Planning.
