Brownell Steps Down as Marketing Research Association CEO

November 13 2009

In the US, Larry Brownell has resigned from his post as CEO of the Marketing Research Association (MRA), to return to his Los Angeles home to pursue other opportunities. He will remain in an advisory capacity until his departure at the end of next January.

Larry BrownellBrownell took up his current post in 2003, since when, he has been instrumental in increasing association revenues and introducing new programs for the membership and industry including Professional Researcher Certification (PRC), the integration of CMOR and IMRO operations into MRA, and numerous accomplishments in the areas of government affairs and assurance of research quality.

Prior to joining the MRA, his association management experience included serving as Associate Director of Member Relations for the Certified Public Accountants and the Administrative Officer for the Building Industry Association of Southern California. During his career, he was also Executive Director of the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association.

In response to Brownell's resignation, the MRA has formed a search committee to find a replacement. This will be headed by
Colleen Moore-Mezler (Moore Research Services) and Steve Schlesinger (Schlesinger Associates), who have previously served as MRA Board President and Secretary respectively. The remaining search committee members will be announced shortly.

'Larry has been a visionary and energetic leader for our association and his efforts and contributions are reflected in the significant growth that MRA has enjoyed throughout his tenure,' said MRA President Kim Larson. 'We will certainly miss all that Larry has brought to the MRA.'
