Medical Panel Firm Resumes Original Name

US online healthcare market research firm Panel Intelligence has reverted to its original name, MedPanel, following its management buyout (MBO) in 2009. The owners say the move reflects the firm's 'singular focus' on the health care sector.

The Cambridge, MA-based firm, which was founded in 1999, retained its former name until 2007, when it was acquired by financial services group MCF. Early last year, its management team bought back the company, retaining all key staff and clients.

'As we secured capital to buy back MedPanel in 2009, it was clear we would need to focus on services which had more scale within the healthcare sector to drive up shareholder value and market relevance,' explains co-founder and CEO Will Febbo.

Since the MBO, the firm has developed new services and put in place a Board of Directors which includes Non-Executive Chairman Jim Lang, independent Directors Dr Wally Buch and David Southwell, Febbo and COO Howard Brick.

'We look forward to further announcements in the coming weeks of additional services which leverage our core assets of a great team, broad client base, technology platform and medical community,' continued Febbo.
