GfK Teams Up to Promote Mobile Research

March 29 2010
GfK has announced a partnership between its subsidiary GfK Asia Pte Ltd and global mobile media industry trade association Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF), which promises insight for the mobile content industry.

Established in 2000, the MEF has global headquarters in London and operational chapters in Asia, EMEA, LATAM and North America. The organisation will promote the research firm’s ‘Mobile Content Industry Report’, which covers the mobile content and entertainment markets, to members on a global scale.

For an initial pilot in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, GfK will collect sales data from content aggregators, operators and online portals; aggregate and process the data and then produce detailed, analytical reports. The latter will include the potential market size of the industry, channel and pricing structures, and a ‘hit list’ of mobile content products.

Kevin Huang, Regional Senior Account Manager for GfK Asia’s Telecommunication Division, says the move aims to help accelerate the growth of the mobile industry: ‘Having been an authority in handset retail sales tracking, GfK is now looking to expand its service offerings to the Mobile Content industry.’

MEF Asia Chairman and MD Neeraj Roy says his organisation ‘values the important insights that this will bring to the MEF Membership and the mobile media industry as a whole.’
