Yankee Earmarks $10m for Connectivity Research

April 7 2010

US technology specialist Yankee Group has raised $10m for the expansion of its research into the impact of global connectivity. The firm is also looking for a new CEO, following promotion of Emily Nagle Green to the post of Chairman.

Emily Nagle GreenIn addition, the private equity funding, which comes from majority shareholder Alta Communications, will be used to double the firm's research team over the next two years, while deepening its research and data portfolio to further address the 4G marketplace.

Founded in 1970, with headquarters in Boston and offices in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific, Yankee Group has focused exclusively on assessing the impacts of global connectivity change - which it terms 'Anywhere' - for several years.

'Our own forecasts show that the Anywhere economy will grow to almost $1 trillion by 2013,' explained Green. 'Our clients need our insights, research and data now more than ever; and as we enter our 41st year, we're seizing the opportunity to invest for growth.'

Green joined the firm in 2005 from her previous role as CEO of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA). Prior to this, she worked as an Analyst at IT research firm Forrester, where she rose to become MD of Forrester North America.

'Emily has done amazing things for Yankee Group since re-launching the company five years ago and positioning its research to focus exclusively on the impact of Anywhere connectivity,' stated Tim Dibble, Managing General Partner at Alta Communications. 'Our investment aims to seize this Anywhere business opportunity and grow Yankee Group to the next level.'

Last month, the firm appointed telecoms veteran Christopher Nicoll as Research Fellow, and Terry Cudmore, Dmitriy Molchanov and Kuba Stolarski as Analysts in its research team.
