Alva Unveils Sector-based Social Media Tools

In the UK, reputation analyst Alva has launched a range of services designed to enable automotive manufacturers and retailers to understand how their reputation is impacted by conversations taking place in social media. Other sectors are slated to follow.

Its team includes Chairman Andrew Vickerman who is the former Global Head of Communications & External Relations at Rio Tinto, and non-executive Directors Alan Schofield, Former Press Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, and Mark Rigby, Director of Corporate Affairs at Sainsbury's.

The firm's new sector-based 'In Sight Automotive' solution provides auto industry organisations with an overview of the issues, trends and risks behind social media buzz; including who is leading conversations and how they affect their organisations.

Some of the issues that are analysed on a daily and weekly basis are the growth in consumer demand for cleaner technologies such as electric and hybrid; the emergence of low-cost competition from developing markets; the problems of the Big Three automotive manufacturers; and the lasting effects of the credit crunch.

Features include online analytical tool 'In Depth', which aggregates and analyses reputation intelligence to provide a near real-time dashboard of an organisation's reputation.

Additionally, the 'In Research' service delivers bespoke sector research for campaign, event or crisis reporting' while the firm's 'Reputation Management Consultancy' offers specialist advice in the areas of reputation diagnosis, reputation risk management and reputation enhancement.

'I want every CEO and Corporate Affairs Director to be able to equip their organisation with the tools to effectively analyse and manage their corporate reputation,' states founder and CEO Alberto Lopez. 'Our range of reputation analysis services will firstly inform organisations about the emerging issues in their sector, then deliver a dashboard to analyse and manage their reputation, and additionally provide specialist consultancy services.'

Alva also plans to roll out 'In Sight for the Energy & Utilities' and 'In Sight for the Financial Services' sectors shortly, with 32 industry sectors planned in total.
