Online Ad Monitor for Colombia

May 26 2010

US-based Media Economics Group has launched ColombiaWebMonitor, billed as the country's first online advertising monitor, with the help of partners Havas Digital (part of Havas Media Group) and media research organization ACIM (Asociacion Colombiana de Investigacion de Medios).

A First for ColombiaData for the new service is available from January 2010, and covers advertising activity on more than thirty key Colombian web sites, including the digital properties of the main media companies in Colombia (such as CanalRCNMSN.com, ElEspectador.com, ElTiempo.com and Semana.com) and pan-regional portals such as MSN Colombia, Starmedia Colombia and Terra Colombia.

Media Economics Group provides competitive intelligence on online ads for the U.S. Hispanic market. President Carlos Pelay comments: 'Colombia represents an important online market in Latin America with 21 million users and a penetration of nearly 50%. Online ad spending has been growing at a very rapid pace and is estimated to reach $33.1 million (US$) in 2010.'

David Posada, Colombian Director for umbrella company Havas Digital, says the tool will 'bring additional development to the digital market in Colombia'. He adds: 'Agencies, publishers and advertisers will be able to know what their competitors and key players are doing online in a very accurate way.'

ACIM is a non-profit association focused on the research and measurement of various mass media in Colombia, mainly through its EGM Study (Estudio General de Medios).

Web sites are at www.acimcolombia.com , www.media-economics.com and www.havasdigital.com .
