Doctors.net.uk Hires Pharma Veteran to Drive Growth

In the UK, online medical network Doctors.net.uk - parent company of medeConnect Healthcare Insight - has hired Gareth Thomas for its newly created role of International Development Director.

Doctors.net.uk, which has a membership comprising the vast majority of UK doctors, was created in 1998. The site has more than 174,000 members and over 50,000 users per week.

Last month, the network partnered with online healthcare marketing agency Medcenter Holdings, for cross-selling and co-marketing opportunities.

Thomas joins with more than 30 years' healthcare technology and service solution experience, and an extensive knowledge of European pharmaceutical markets. Most recently, he worked at pharma knowledge management solution specialist Skila, where he was VP and Head of Europe. Before this, he held a number of senior management roles at both Cegedim and Dendrite.

In his new role reporting to CEO Richard Adams, Thomas will be responsible for leading the network's international expansion, with a target to establish a foothold for Doctors.net.uk in core European pharma markets by the end of this year.
