WPP's Maxus Hires Global Data and Insights Chief

In London, WPP-owned communications consultancy Maxus has hired Martin Lawson for the new role of Global Data and Insights Director.

Martin LawsonMaxus offers a combined planning and marketing service it calls 'Relationship Media', a model built on a mix of creative media thinking and real-time customer data. The firm is part of media investment management arm GroupM, which serves as the parent company for all WPP's media agencies.

Lawson joins from digital agency i-level, where he served as Head of Insight, leading a team of data analysts, researchers and consultants to understand online consumer behaviour. For the prior six years, he worked as Director of Analytics at media agency PHD in London.

In his new role, Lawson is tasked with developing techniques, tools and consulting solutions for the agency's global network and its clients. He will work closely with Nick Vale, the agency's Global Planning Director, as well as with clients and data analysts in Maxus offices around the world.

Lawson reports to Maxus Global CEO Kelly Clark and Lindsay Weedon, CEO of Maxus UK.

'I'm very pleased to welcome Martin to the Maxus team,' Clark said. 'This is a new position for our agency and we've given him a very broad brief that I am confident he has the skills and personality to accomplish.'
