comScore Reports Record Quarter with 43% Growth

November 3 2010

Online measurement specialist comScore has reported record quarterly revenue growth to $45.7m, an increase of 43% over the third quarter of 2009. However, two recent acquisitions wiped out net income of $0.9m and replaced it with a loss of $2.1m.

Magid AbrahamIn September, comScore bought Dutch web analytics and video measurement firm Nedstat for around $36.7m, and back in July, the company acquired the products division of mobile analytics specialist Nexius for $24m in cash and stock.

comScore President and CEO Dr Magid Abraham said these acquisitions had added 203 clients to the customer base, while his firm had also won an additional 58 new customers during the third quarter.

Quarterly operating results were impacted by a number of acquisition-related items. Excluding acquisition costs, the firm says net income would have increased 44% to $8.2m over the third quarter of 2009.

'We are pleased with the strong revenue growth and record profitability, and we are even more enthusiastic about our growth prospects for 2010,' states Abraham. 'As a result, we now anticipate 2010 GAAP revenues of $174m to $175m, representing full year growth of approximately 36% to 37% over 2009, and approximately 50% growth in the fourth quarter.'
