New President and CEO for Yankee Group

November 8 2010

Technology consultancy Yankee Group has announced the appointment of information industry veteran and former Gartner CMO Terry Waters as its new President and CEO.

Waters will oversee the company's strategic direction and day-to-day operations, a role previously performed by Emily Nagle Green, who has moved to the role of Chairman and will focus on a more 'evangelical' role, including speaking on the impact of global connectivity as set out in the firm's book ANYWHERE, published earlier this year.

Waters was previously President and CEO of financial sector analytics company Highline Financial; and before this was Chief Marketing Officer and President of the Executive Programs business unit at rival technology specialist Gartner, Inc. Earlier, he worked as COO for Web-based content aggregation, syndication and business services provider Screaming Media.

Green says of the new appointment: 'I'm thrilled that Terry will be leading Yankee Group. Our clients and employees will benefit from his hands-on leadership and expertise in delivering innovative technology research products and services.'

The company has recently been expanding its Forecasts and Monitors product family, and has added more than a dozen new analysts covering the development of and demand for next-gen networks, including network software, security, enterprise mobility, mobile payments and 3G/4G.

Yankee Group was founded by Howard Anderson, now an MIT professor, in 1970. Headquartered in Boston, it grew into a broad-based IT consultancy with operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. In recent years it has narrowed its subject focus to concentrate on global connectivity.
