Transatlantic Start-Up Tracks Love and Hate

November 24 2010

Launched in London and New York, a new firm called Amplicate will provide access to statistics gathered from more than 40 million consumer opinions, on the products, services and issues they love and hate.

The free analytics site has been set up to collect public opinions on social networks and analyze trends in key issues and people's feelings about them.

Its founders say that the service combines and categorizes opinions to enable individuals to 'shout as loud' as a lobby group, a corporate spin campaign, or a politician.

Statistics are available for integration into other services, or to provide standalone comparisons of products, services and sectors. In addition, Amplicate is also introducing a regular editorial service that mines the database, to unearth new and trending consumer sentiment issues.

'After a shocking customer experience, I saw the need for a service that would collate individual concerns, both negative and positive, to help these voices to be heard,' explains co-founder and CEO Juan Alvarex. 'But what we have since discovered, is that people are also interested in what others feel strongly about, and so by opening up our analytics, people now have access to comparative and historical data to discover trends.'
