January 5 2011

In India, just eight months after joining the Media Research Users Council (MRUC) as Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Eapen has quit. By way of replacement, media exec Shaswati Saradar has taken on the role of Director General of the not-for-profit body.

Shaswati SaradarFounded in 1994, MRUC's members are drawn from major advertisers, ad agencies, publishers and broadcast media. In 2009, the organisation merged with the National Readership Studies Council (NRSC) to create a single research currency for the country's print industry.

Eapen joined in April with more than 18 years' media research experience. He was previously CEO at aMap, which provides Asia's overnight TV audience measurement system through its peoplemeter panel.

During his tenure at MRUC, Eapen was instrumental in developing a partnership between MRUC and Roy Morgan Research (RMR) to launch a single source survey in India.

Saradar (pictured) brings more than 15 years' experience gained in the media, advertising and marketing sectors. Most recently, she served as VP and Head of Marketing, Europe & Russia at news channel Zee Network; prior to this she was a Senior Manager at auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India. She began her career agency-side in media planning and director roles at Ogilvy & Mather and McCann Erickson India.
