Thinkbox Research Head to Leave in July

January 19 2011

In the UK, television marketing body Thinkbox has announced that Research and Strategy Director David Brennan is leaving the organization in July after four and a half years, to 'pursue other opportunities'.

David BrennanThinkbox was founded in 2005 to help the main UK commercial broadcasters understand how audiences engage with TV advertising. Its shareholders are Channel 4, ITV, Sky Media, Turner Media Innovations and UKTV. Together these represent more than 90% of commercial TV advertising revenue through their owned and partner TV channels.

Brennan joined in 2006 with a remit to design and commission Thinkbox's research programme and and communicate its output, while developing the organisation's broader strategy.

Prior to Thinkbox he was Head of Group Strategic Insight at Associated Newspapers, founded Connect Research & Strategy in Australia, and was VP - Research & Channel Development at Flextech Television, and Controller of Audience Planning at ITV. Earlier in his career, he held research roles at Media & Airtime Sales, Tyne Tees Television and HTV.

Thinkbox CEO Tess Alps comments: 'We're obviously very sad to say goodbye to Dave after four and a half successful years, but I'm sure we'll soon work together again in another capacity so it's more au revoir than goodbye. Dave is that rare being; a rigorous researcher who is also a creative thinker and a brilliant communicator. Replacing him will be no easy task.'

Brennan says that while he is proud of what he and the team have achieved, the time seemed ripe to move on and do something different. He adds: 'It is good to leave on a high and knowing that there is a fantastic team in place to carry on the good work'.
