Blackbaud Buys Nonprofit Analytics Firm

February 2 2011

In the US, software and services firm Blackbaud has acquired database and analytics provider Public Interest Data Inc (PIDI). Both organisations focus on the nonprofit sector.

Marc ChardonLaunched in 1981, Blackbaud's products and services are used for functions including business intelligence, prospect research, consulting and analytics. They also assist clients with fundraising, financial management, web site management, direct marketing, education administration and ticketing.

PIDI's services primarily include database management services, similar to those currently provided by Blackbaud; and merge purge and data analytics services, which will add to Blackbaud's Target Analytics product offerings. Blackbaud will continue to support all PIDI's current offerings in addition to extending the company's analytics services to meet the needs of the combined company's customer base.

Blackbaud paid approximately $17.5m in cash for PIDI, and has agreed up to $2.5m more in performance-related payments during the next two years.

'The combination was a natural fit as we continue to invest in new technology to enhance our current services,' explains Blackbaud CEO Marc Chardon. 'We also look forward to providing PIDI's merge purge and data services to our 24,000 existing customers and in turn, providing our new customers access to the market's broadest suite of product and service offerings built for nonprofits.'
