Nielsen Buys MEMRB

Cyprus-based MEMRB (The Middle East Market Research Bureau) has been bought by Nielsen for an undisclosed sum, thought to be around 60m Euros.

The company, which was established in 1971, conducts research not only in the Middle East but also North Africa and Central and Eastern Europe.

Headquartered in Nicosia, MEMRB formed a strategic alliance with Information Resources Inc. (IRI) in 1995 and three years later, IRI acquired a 19.9 per cent shareholding in the company.

Chairman George Vassiliou yesterday confirmed the takeover had taken place, reports www.cyprus-mail.com , though he said no further statements would be made .
