Wal-Mart Names Global Consumer Insights Chief

US retail giant Wal-Mart Stores has promoted Cindy Davis to the position of Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Insights, leading a newly created team which will analyze broad consumer trends and provide insight into customer needs.

Cindy DavisDavis joined Wal-Mart division Sam's Club in 2007 as SVP of Membership and Marketing. She was later promoted to EVP and added e-commerce responsibilities to her role.

Prior to joining Sam's, Davis served as President of Global Development and Communications at marketing agency Rapp Collins Worldwide, and VP of Brand Marketing for the Pizza Hut division of YUM! Brands. Earlier in her career, she held senior brand and marketing roles at Promus Hotel Corporation, Starwood Vacation ownership, and Harrah's Entertainment. She also spent more than ten years in advertising at Tracy Locke/ DDB where she rose to the position of SVP, Group Account Director.

In her new post, she will continue to report to Brian Cornell, President and CEO of Sam's Club, and will also oversee the development of advanced analytical tools.
