Roger Gane to Retire from RSMB

February 18 2011

In the UK, media research veteran Roger Gane is to retire from his post as Research Director at RSMB in March, after a 40-year career in the market and media research sectors.

Roger GaneRSMB - which is jointly owned by Kantar and Havas - was established in 1987 and now counts broadcasting bodies BARB and RAJAR among its major clients.

Gane joined RSMB in 2004 from media research specialist Ipsos-RSL where he served as MD and had overall responsibility for industry contracts conducted for BARB, RAJAR and the NRS, as well as for a range of syndicated media studies.

Prior to RSL, he was the first MD of RAJAR, which he ran from 1992 to 1997, and earlier in his career he worked for both media owners and major market research companies, including AGB Research for eight years.

Steve Wilcox, RSMB's MD comments: 'I'd like to thank Roger for the considerable contribution he has made to RSMB in general and on the BARB and RAJAR contracts in particular. We wish him a happy retirement!'

Many of Gane's responsibilities will be taken on by audience researcher David Harrison, who will join the firm in April as Commercial Director, from Channel Five, where he most recently served as Director of Knowledge.

In addition, RSMB has appointed Ross Wightman to a newly created role, Head of Business Development - Data Integration. He joins from GfK UK, prior to which he was Client Service Director of AGB NMR UK.

'Whilst we are sorry to lose Roger, I am delighted that David will be joining us in a similar capacity, thus ensuring overall management of RSMB remains strong,' adds Wilcox. 'Ross's appointment is also vital for the company, given the increasing number of requests we are receiving for the design and execution of data fusion and other types of integration projects.'
