comScore to Countersue Nielsen

comScore has responded to Nielsen's recent patent infringement lawsuit with a suit of its own.

The Nielsen suit was filed on 16th March and reported in yesterday's DRNO. Reston, VA-based comScore filed its suit yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. comScore alleges infringement of its own online measurement patents by Nielsen Netratings and Nielsen Online and says it intends to 'vigorously protect its intellectual property and defend itself'.

Both companies seek an injunction to block the other from continuing infringement, along with unspecified damages. Nielsen said in a statement that it had filed its action 'after thorough analysis and consideration' and that it did not take intellectual property rights lightly.
