CivicScience Raises $1.2m for iQpoll Tool

March 25 2011

In the US, polling software firm CivicScience has raised $1.2m in funding, which it plans to use to expand its online polling platform iQpoll and hire additional team members.

Kevin McClatchyFounded in 2007, Pittsburgh, PA-based CivicScience uses technology to gather consumer attitudes and opinions towards brands and products. The iQpoll tool integrates with existing polls running on client sites, and then delivers three poll questions to users every time they visit. By identifying return-users, the tool builds an anonymous database of insights about the audience.

Investors for this round of funding include retail marketing research agency The NPD Group; national polling company ALR; and Kevin McClatchy (pictured), Director of The McClatchy Company and former owner of baseball team the Pittsburgh Pirates. The firm has previously raised a total of $1.6m in funding.

Last year, CivicScience partnered with social media sample specialist Peanut Labs to launch 'Wisdom of the Web'; a tool which gradually builds a picture of respondents from answers to a number of separate short polls.
