VoxGen Gets Grant for Speech Technology Tools

May 18 2011

Speech technology specialist VoxGen has been awarded a grant from Germany's Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, to develop tools and processes to help clients design and manage cross-channel customer service strategies.

Pierce BuckleyLondon-based VoxGen, which also has operations in Germany and the US, develops voice applications such as Interactive Voice Response (IVR), SMS and smart phone apps.

Earlier in the year, the firm received a £300,000 grant from the Technology Strategy Board, to research, develop and enhance voice biometrics to support consumer identification and verification.

The latest grant is part of The Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology's 'Central Innovation Programme for SMEs', designed to support the research and development of new technologies and services.

Pierce Buckley, VoxGen's Head of Product, states; 'It's a big frustration for customers not being able to switch communication channels with organisations quickly and easily, and having to repeat the same information each time when they do. This grant will lead to the development of new tools and technologies that make the process a lot more seamless for the customer, and a great deal more cost effective and implementable for organisations.'
