Taykey Debuts Audience Targeting and Prediction Platform

June 10 2011

Three former Israeli Defense Ministry execs have launched an online ad platform called Taykey, which uses real-time data and trend analysis to identify where any audience is, as well as predict where they'll be next. Their firm has also closed a $9m funding deal.

Amit AvnerTaykey's proprietary algorithm predicts online behaviour to provide advertisers with a stream of what the trio describe as 'right audiences at the right time'.

The solution determines which topics are popular among different audience groups and then targets them with Facebook ads, promoted trends on Twitter, or search ads in real-time.

The firm - which is also called Taykey - was launched in 2008 by Amit Avner, Omer Dror and Itay Birnboimb to develop the trend-based, social media ad platform. Their solution analyzes emerging trends and consumer conversations across various social media, to identify audiences' real-time interest and predict online behaviour.

CEO and co-founder Avner (pictured) says that on the social web, 'demographics are dead'.

Avner states: 'Until now, though, the vast potential power of social media advertising has been caught in the stranglehold of demographically-targeted campaigns. Taykey empowers advertisers to tap into the real way audiences move online - in vast flocks not determined by age and gender, but by interests. This technology will cause a complete transformation in how brands are able to discover their audiences and advertise online.'

In addition to the launch, the company has closed a $9m Series B funding round, led by Sequoia Capital, Softbank Capital and Crescent Point. The 19-employee company plans to use the funds to hire additional engineers in Tel Aviv, and to increase its New York City-based sales team.
