UK Firm Debuts Packaging Research Tools

October 11 2011

Full service agency SPA Future Thinking has launched two new packaging development tools, 'PackPotential' and 'PackPerfect', which integrate behavioural and emotional techniques into its traditional methodologies.

Andrew TharmeThe company says the tools are based on the latest in behavioural analysis and neuroscience, using both rational and implicit techniques to measure a range of consumer and retail-related functions. The tools can be used either face-to-face for simulating retail shelf purchases; or online to evaluate pack designs, most shelf stand-out scenarios, emotional response to brands, communication, pricing and sales potential.

Life-like stimulus is provided by high resolution 3D retail display purchase simulations, 3D design evaluations and movie clips showing functionality, while eye tracking technology can be used for detailed deconstruction of designs and shelf navigation.

MD Andrew Tharme comments: 'We've developed PackPotential and PackPerfect as holistic methodologies to ensure both the rational and emotional consumer benefits are addressed and measured. The ability to deploy sales (volumetric) forecasting, using our Apollonius model as an integral part of the research, provides a pure ROI measure.'
