comScore Loses Czech Internet Audience Contract

October 12 2011

The Czech Association for Internet Advertising (SPIR) has withdrawn its three-year online audience measurement contract with comScore, and given the project back to former provider Gemius and partner Mediaresearch.

Kateřina HrubešováSPIR originally awarded comScore its NetMonitor contract in May, with a spec which included measurement of socio-demographic profiles, online video viewing behavior and the mobile Internet market, as well as analysis of technologies such as readers and tablet computers.

However, SPIR Executive Director Kateřina Hrubešová (pictured) says that after a detailed analysis of the methods and technologies offered by comScore, it was found that some of SPIR's requirements could not be met within the required time frame. 'Therefore, for the ensuing wave of NetMonitor, we choose to cooperate with the hitherto supplier, Gemius,' she adds.

Gemius/Mediaresearch, which had run the project since 2005, will commence work on the new wave in January 2012.

The contract comprises measurement of web sites, traffic on mobile devices, multimedia content and apps, while web analytics tool gemiusTraffic2 will be used to provide results based on the socio-demographic structure of the Internet population.

Last month, IAB Slovakia awarded the country's official Internet audience measurement contract to Gemius, working with partner Mediaresearch.
