Big Names Join Big Data Specialist

October 27 2011

Big Data analyst Sociocast has appointed Scott Hoffman, formerly of Yahoo!, Lotame and [x+1], as its new Chief Operating Officer; and strengthened its advisory board with two more media veterans, LiveTout and Media60 founder Joe Doran and former DoubleClick exec Jeffrey Silverman.

Launched in 2010, the firm uses proprietary software to find patterns connecting people, places, and things in massive data sets and give clients predictive, real-time audience insights.

Hoffman helped found social media tracking and targeting firm Lotame and was an early team member at Yahoo! Of his new role, he comments: 'Sociocast founder Albert Azout is one of the few people in the world who has the vision and technical skills to make Big Data work for digital media companies in publishing and advertising. Bringing this vision to market is a once in a lifetime opportunity easily recognized by those who have spent careers running into the walls Sociocast simply destroys.'

The firm's advisory board already includes MediaMath CEO Joe Zawadzki and Wunderman COO David Sable. Doran brings fifteen years of experience from companies including Microsoft, General Mills and Media6o, and is currently the founder and principal of LiveTout. Silverman brings 25 years of media and technology experience, and is a former partner at Laconia Ventures and a board member of the New York Angels.

Azout comments: 'Scott, Joe and Jeffrey have had an immediate impact on our operation, and we move forward with complete confidence in their ability to mold and guide us.'
