Finland's Comptel Buys Analytics Firm Xtract

Software firm Comptel has acquired a fellow Finnish company, analytics provider Xtract Oy, for a total consideration of EUR 3.1m.

Juhani HintikkaXtract's analytics platform uses social media intelligence to provide customer analytics solutions for clients in the mobile, retail and finance sectors. The platform takes data from multiple sources, and features predictive analytics and multi-dimensional customer profiling.

Helsinki-based Comptel provides software solutions and services to assist telecom operators with areas including customer experience management. Following the acquisition, Comptel says it will combine Xtract's analytics solutions with its own services to enable operators to react to events and produce relevant and targeted actions that improve the customer experience.

Juhani Hintikka, President and CEO of Comptel, comments: 'This acquisition completes Comptel's 'event-analysis-action' vision, which will help telecom operators provide value to their customers and operations by driving real-time business decisions. Delivering on this vision is a key for our growth.'

In 2011, Xtract's revenues totaled EUR 2.4m, up from EUR 2.3m in the prior year period, and the firm has a team of 27 staff who are mainly based in Espoo, Finland.
