Bowker Combines US and UK Brands for MR Unit

New Jersey-based Bowker, which provides information for the publishing industry, has merged its US-based PubTrack Consumer and UK-based Book Marketing Limited (BML) under a new global brand, named Bowker Market Research.

Kelly GallagherBowker provides bibliographic information, customer research and management solutions for publishers, booksellers and libraries. The company is an affiliated business of ProQuest and the official ISBN Agency for the USA and its territories, with additional operations in England and Australia.

The new division will cover Bowker's US and UK consumer research products, industry statistics, the UK's Book Marketing Society, and US bibliographic statistics. Day-to-day operations will be headed up by Director Jo Henry, who has led BML since 1996 and played a key role in its integration since 2009.

Henry will report to Kelly Gallagher, VP of Bowker Market Research, who says the move was 'a natural next step' for the already close BML and PubTrack Consumer. 'Each built premier book consumer panels - PubTrack Consumer in the US and Books & Consumers in the UK - that produce reliable, authoritative research for the countries' leading publishing houses and retailers.'

The division has already released initial results from its first major project, a Global e-Book Monitor tracking usage and attitudes in ten major world markets, and will unveil two more later this year in Australia and Canada.
