Schulman to Head Research for TV Association

In the US, broadcast trade association TVB has announced the appointment of Stacey Lynn Schulman, former Turner Broadcasting research head, in the newly created position of SVP, Chief Research Officer.

Stacey SchulmanHer more than 23 years of media research experience include four at Turner where she was SVP, Entertainment, Animation, Sports & Digital Ad Sales Research, leading a team of 28 sales researchers and helping to design the firm's TVinContext research efforts and its B2B digital recommendation engine.

Prior to joining Turner in 2007, she was President of Interpublic's Consumer Experience Practice; and earlier she was EVP, Global Research at Initiative and held senior research positions at TN Media; Darcy, Masius, Benton & Bowles; CBS; and Katz Television. She holds a master's degree in media ecology from New York University and a bachelor's degree in radio/television/film from Northwestern University.

Recently, she has focused on her own consultancy, Hi Intelligence Inc., and won the Gold Medal for Research Innovation from the ARF's Great Mind Awards.

In her new position, Schulman will oversee TVB's research department and develop its industry research program, including major work to demonstrate the effectiveness of broadcast TV advertising and local market media solutions. She will also partner with the business development team and represent TVB at industry conferences and on committees including the MRC and the NAB's Committee on Local Television Audience Measurement.

TVB President Steve Lanzano says providing customers with tools and resources including 'credible, fact-based research and insights on consumer behavior' is one of the organisation's highest priorities, and comments: 'Stacey's extensive experience in media research and her deep understanding of key media industry issues, including consumer behavior, make her the ideal person to lead our ongoing efforts to expand the breadth and detail of our research product...'
