SpotRight Merges with Spot Influence, Raises $1m

Social media intelligence firm SpotRight has merged with online influentials specialist Spot Influence under the SpotRight brand. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but SpotRight did announce that it had received $1m in funding, which it will use to accelerate growth.

Ed MessmanSpotRight's platform creates a social media identity for customers from hundreds of different sources including the social web and firms' own databases; while Spot Influence enables clients to segment and target all of the people generating content online through proprietary algorithms which deliver scores for Newsweek's Digital Power Index.

SpotRight CEO Ed Messman (pictured) says the addition of Spot Influence adds a 'critical dimension' to the understanding of a consumer's affinity and behavior across the web.

Dave Angulo Spot Influence's former CEO, who is now CTO of Spot Right, adds: 'Spot Influence provides a perfect complement to the SpotRight platform by discovering and analyzing web content for meaningful signals that establish a consumer's reach, relevance and impact in categories important to a brand. Our unified platform will provide brands with social data and insight through a web application and an API.'

In connection with the merger, SpotRight closed $1m in funding from Grotech Ventures, Access Venture Partners, and FFP Holdings.
