US-based data mining specialist Pattern Insight has sold its big data analytics platform ‘Log Insight’, along with the associated technology and team, to virtualization software developer VMware. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Log Insight combines analytics with log management technology, and can be used to analyze large amounts of machine-generated data in real-time.

Pattern Insight co-founder and CEO Spiros Xanthos (pictured) said in a blog post: 'Our vision has been to change how people search, mine, and analyze their vast amount of data. Log Insight is the culmination of our efforts, aiming at management and real-time operational analytics for data, regardless of scale.'

Xanthos adds that the sale will allow his firm to focus on its Code Insight code-defect detection tool.
