In the US, online survey software firm QuestionPro has acquired survey platform PollBob, whose community of 350,000 users complete real-time polls online and via an iPhone app. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ben JacobsonThe PollBob platform, set up in 2010 by Ben Jacobson (pictured) and Zach Kupperman, enables users to create and participate in short opinion polls which can be shared with friends. At the beginning of the year, PollBob added 270,000+ registered users to the platform through the acquisition of DIY online polling site Mister Poll.

PollBob's tools will join QuestionPro's existing portfolio, covering online, off-line and mobile surveys, and its platform will be extended for use with Android and Windows products.

Following the acquisition, Jacobson will join the QuestionPro team, with responsibility for integrating the PollBob platform and overseeing all social polling initiatives. Kupperman, who trained as a lawyer, told DRNO he is leaving to pursue new opportunities.

QuestionPro CEO Vivek Bhaskaran, who is also CEO of research software company Survey Analytics, comments: 'Zach and Ben have done a great job building this cutting edge product, and we look forward to having Ben join our team. He is a huge asset, and our customers will benefit tremendously from the capabilities this iPhone/web app has to offer.'
