Kantar Worldpanel ComTech Rolls Out Mobile Panel in Japan

September 19 2012

Kantar's telecoms purchasing and usage trends analysis division - Worldpanel ComTech - has launched a new mobile and tablet-focussed panel in Japan, to provide insight into the country's mobile phone market.

Nic LewisohnWorldpanel ComTech measures actual consumer behaviour in the telecoms market, across 12 countries - the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the US, China, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.

Through the new service, a representative sample of 10,000 Japanese consumers will be interviewed each month, with the results including insights into mobile phone ownership, sales, usage, loyalty, pricing, and forecasting.

Kantar Worldpanel ComTech MD Nic Lewisohn (pictured) says that the new initiative will offer the 'largest mobile consumer panel of its kind', and the first to use a continuous survey methodology to provide insight into Japan's mobile phone market.

Lewisohn adds: 'It is through combining ComTech's methodology and large sample size that we have, for the first time, the ability to accurately report key aspects of the Japanese market that will help operators, manufacturers and networks to make successful business decisions.'

The first results from the panel are expected in the fourth quarter of 2012.
