RUM Deal Combines Mobile Testing Firms

In the US, cloud and mobile testing specialist SOASTA has acquired performance measurement company LogNormal, which provides 'real user measurement' (RUM) and monitoring for mobile and web apps. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Buddy Brewer and Philip TellisLogNormal, which was co-founded by industry veterans Buddy Brewer and Philip Tellis, is a platform used to measure and analyze the perceived performance of a web app from a user's perspective.

Through the acquisition, SOASTA will extend its own real-time analytics engine to deliver insight into mobile behavior. SOASTA will also integrate the LogNormal system with its newly launched mPulse data analysis system, which delivers real-time information based on actual mobile user behavior.

The acquisition was completed in September of 2012, and all LogNormal employees have now joined SOASTA.
