Alex Owens to Join Sainsbury's as Head of Insight

In the UK, Lloyds Banking Group Head of Retail Strategy Alex Owens is leaving to take up the role of Head of Insight at supermarket chain Sainsbury's. He starts the new job in January.

Alex OwensOwens (pictured) has worked for Lloyds for nearly two years, leading development of the bank's 'Customer Experience Blueprints'. Prior to this, he served as Director Insight & Research at Capital One, Head of Insight at BskyB, and Insight Manager - Digital at the BBC. He began his career as an Account Manager at Millward Brown.

He will join Sainsbury's as the company restructures its marketing team, in a bid to deliver 'more efficient and integrated' marketing campaigns. As part of the changes, the firm has also hired O2's Head of Sponsorship Mark Given as Head of Brand Communications, and Mindshare Business Director Sophia Weir for its newly created role of Head of Advertising and Media.

Marketing Director Sarah Warby comments: 'Mark, Alex and Sophia are great additions to the team, and will help us continue to deliver competitive advantage through efficient and integrated marketing campaigns, under the banner of Live Well for Less.'
