Ipsos Appoints South African Head

Ipsos has appointed Harald Hasselmann as Country Manager of its South African operation, succeeding Jake Orpen who is leaving the company.

Hasselmann, a former Country Manager for Synovate Germany and General Manager at Ipsos Germany, will now be based in Bryanston, Johannesburg. He starts on 24th January.

Orpen, with the company since 2004, recently led the integration of Synovate's South African business following the 2011 acquisition. He comments: 'We have seen the business grow to a formidable force in the Market Research Industry in South Africa, and I am confident that Harald's leadership will take the business to the next level in 2013'. Shane Farrell, Ipsos CEO for EMEA, adds: 'We are more than pleased that Harald has accepted this position. His long-term experience as a market researcher and as a skilled manager are both invaluable assets for leading this important market and driving further growth.'
